I'm usually not one for reboots, or sequels, or long running serials that have gone passed their prime. I hate when the powers that be redo a classic film or tv show, insert the latest Hollywood twits, and wait for the dump trucks of money to come in. It's awful, it's painful and I loath the fact that I end up watching half of this crap with the hope that just maybe one of them will hit paydirt and deliver us to simpler times. Or, at the very least, make me laugh briefly and keep me occupied for an evening. It rarely happens.
But this year feels different. Yes, in a time when we need a good two hour break to forget our troubles (and boy, do we have troubles) these retreads are not only welcome, but surely needed! Yes, bring them on baby! We've got Superman, the Naked Gun, Spinal Tap, Happy Gilmore, King of the Hill, Stranger Things...and the mother of them all...Space Balls 2! Holy fucking crap! Spaceballs 2! And the best part is, all of the surviving cast is coming back...including a 400-year-old Mel Brooks.
I thought I had given up on mankind. I thought that maybe I should just pack it in, buy in and sell out. But no, not today! Not now! I have an amazing year of entertainment ahead of me. Thank you Lord, I needed something! We needed something. It is always darkest before the dawn, and I have seen the light on the horizon. Only one man would dare give me the raspberry...Lonestar!!!!!!

Looking forward to Naked Gun as I don't have so much invested in that one. I am very nervous about Spaceballs 2. What if it isn't called The Search For More Money? What if Mel Brooks doesn't have it anymore (and at his age who could blame him)? What if I don't end up watching it repeatedly at home eating 2 cups of just-made instant pudding out of a mixing bowl? What if this spoils another treasure of my childhood? There's too much at stake!
