No jokes today, no puns, no silly stories, no making fun of the doofus in the Whitehouse. Today, I want to say thank you to Sam Rosen, longtime play-by-play announcer for the New York Rangers. Last night was his final broadcast with the Broadway Blueshirts, who unfortunately failed to make the playoffs this season...but at least the Rangers were able to give him a win before he sailed off into the sunset.
I know how incredibly cliche' it sounds to say Sam has been in my living room for the last 40 years, but I'll say it anyway. Through the ups and downs, twists and turns, highs and lows for richer or for poorer, Sam was the voice in the room that let me escape when times weren't so great. I can't describe to you how reassuring it was that after a hard day at work and sitting in two hours of traffic to get home knowing that at 7pm Sam Rosen was there for me.
Win or lose, he made the game fun to watch. And lose we did. Being a Rangers fan is being a glutton for punishment, and any Blueshirt faithful will agree with me 100% on that. You will be missed, but I wish you all the best in retirement. Even though, somehow I get that weird feeling that I'll see you hosting some sort of sports show next year. Afterall, we all know the first retirement never sticks!
And look on the bright side, you'll never have to suffer another heartbreaking Rangers loss from the booth. If you want, you can come sit with me in my living room to experience that! After all, you've been there all along.

Mrs. Rosen! It’s your Sam! I’m back from broadcasting for 40 years straight!
