Valentine's Day…a chance to prove your love by spending as much money as humanly possible.  You say chocolate and candies are not quite enough?  How about a diamond to warm your honey’s heart?  One that was most likely dug up by a child laborer working in horrid and dangerous conditions.  Then stolen by a warlord who traded it for a kidnapped girl forced into the sex trade after her village was raided and looted by guerrilla fighters.  Oh, but the diamond’s journey doesn’t quite end there.  Eventually, it’s sold for pennies on the dollar to a diamond distributor so the whole process can play itself out again.  It’s cut and polished and carefully placed into a ring and sold for a price so high, it could have redeveloped the entire poverty stricken village it came from.  But at least your beloved will be the envy of all her friends…and with a little luck, maybe you got a little hanky panky for such a lovely gift!  Happy Valentine’s Day!
