This is the summer of the sequel, prequel, retread and remake. It started out with the long awaited season two of Andor...which was an absolute gem of a masterpiece. A homerun of mammoth proportions and one of the best television series I've seen in years. You didn't have to know a damned thing about Star Wars to watch it, as it stood on its own. And if you didn't want to que up Rogue One and A New Hope right after it ended, then you've got a screw loose. So, yeah, go watch it.

I've been off the writing kick lately because I've been busy as all heck. I know, no excuse...you people need my daily ranting. I'm sorry! But I'm in the middle of installing new railings on my wrap around porch, the trampoline broke, my hot tub broke and two of my hose spigots need replacing. And oh yeah, the 15 lawns I maintain don't cut themselves in this 100 degree heatwave. So, yeah, lately when my day ends, there's just nothing left in the tank. With that being said, I did find time for a little R&R this weekend to see the return of my beloved Superman.

What did I think of this retread/remake? Well, let's just say I should have worked on my railings. Maybe tinker around with the hot tub, fix the old trampoline...maybe drive a rusty iron spike through my head. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed my diet grape soda and the airconditioned theater. It was nice to do something with the family and the 45 minutes of trailers were great! Was I expecting a masterpiece? Of course not. Was I expecting the DC universe to completely sell out and make a terrible Marvel clone of a movie? Yeah, kind of. But I was hoping that I'd get something more like the first two Superman films, or something like one of the Batman films. Dark, gritty...a witty and diabolical villain the likes of Gene Hackman playing Lex Luthor with some outlandish scheme to get rich quick and rule the world.

There were parts I liked. The young actors who played Superman, Lois Lane, Jimmy and my favorite character from the old movies, Miss Tessmacher were all great. And it's a shame their performances were overshadowed by such a lousy film. The Lex Luthor character had no wit or charm and was essentially a maniac. You're supposed to like Lex in a weird way, not be terrified of him. Then there was the addition of other super heroes. I fucking hate that! That's why I hate Marvel movies! And what the fuck was with the 700 foot monster that appears in the middle of Metropolis that looks like a giant Axolotl? People just walking around like it's not even there...oh just another day, no worries. Garbage, pure garbage. Somebody got paid a lot of money to write that dribble. A LOT OF MONEY!

And don't even get me started with the monkeys on typewriters in an alternate universe...and the Super Dog? Oh for fuck's sake! And now Superman's real father Jor-El and his mother are evil? Oh hell no! Sorry if I'm giving up spoilers, but really, I don't give two shits, and you won't care anyway, you'll roll your eyes as much as I did if you go see it. And if you don't, maybe you should just get a bowl of popcorn and que up the Phantom Menace and enjoy yourself! Shame on you DC, you could have been different from the garbage of the Marvel world, instead you sold out and crapped out this insane pile of vomit.

Well, the kids liked it. I guess you succeeded there. Next week the Naked Gun reboot. I've got a bad feeling about this one too. Fingers crossed!

Well, at least the railings are coming out nice!
